'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the thrilling dying seconds of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the post-goal scrum.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range effort from 25 yards, and the defender promptly slammed home the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an incredible recovery given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the City players who complimented the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can feel you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has quickly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at League Two Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that development for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away encounters against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an artificial pitch and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I reached the point where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I thought I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
